5 p.m. update ... the first medals!

The SNDIWD has just received word of the first medal winners of the competition — four silver medals have been awarded in photography. The other judging groups have not gotten to medal discussions just yet. For those of you playing at home, it takes four of the five judges to agree on a silver medal winner. It must be a unanimous vote of all five judges in a group to award a gold medal — something that did not happen at all in last year's competition.

We will not be releasing any medal winners because those results are not official until Monday, when all the judges review all the medal winners.

Also, at halftime, Syracuse is edging UConn, 35-32, down the road at the Carrier Dome.
