Best of Newspaper Design 28th edition coordinator Kris Kinkade (Kalamazoo Gazette) and judging team captain Mike Rice (Arizona Star) lead judges through a practice round to introduce the judging procedures at the Syracuse University Faculty Club, following the opening reception Friday night. Most pages were voted out. Shocking, I know. But there were two faux awards of excellence. Judges asked a lot of questions and seemed eager to get under way, having finally arrived in Syracuse.
